Le Mont Never-Rest | 2025
“Le Mont Never-Rest”
October 21 – December 19, 2025, Galerie 75 Faubourg, Paris, France
Galerie 75 Faubourg, in collaboration with Galerie Enrico Navarra, is pleased to present Le Mont Never-Rest, the first solo exhibition in France by Yuree Kensaku.
This exhibition emerges from a year marked by significant health challenges for the artist, including surgeries, treatments, and major lifestyle adjustments. In this context, the French mountains become symbolic terrain: vast, looming forms that echo the personal and physical obstacles she has navigated. Within these new paintings, Kensaku depicts herself through a series of shifting avatars—a serpent entwined around Asclepius’ rod, a goldfish, a scorpion, a boxer, a bodybuilder. These recurring transformations reflect her ongoing exploration of impermanence and the mutable nature of identity. “My figures are not always self-portraits but reflections in a mirror—sometimes of myself, sometimes of others, always in transformation. Everything changes, nothing lasts,” she notes.
The exhibition title, Le Mont Never-Rest, blends the English words “Never” and “Ever” with the French “Le Mont,” offering both a linguistic play and an allusion to Mount Everest. The reference underscores the scale of the challenges faced by the artist while highlighting the ongoing ascent—an acknowledgment that obstacles can be endured but are rarely fixed or final.
