“The Mansion of Plates”

‘The Mansion of Plates’  is the latest solo exhibition by Yuree Kensaku.

She explores women’s struggles and resilience through cultural myths, folklore, and archetypes. With her vibrant anime-inspired style, she examines how stories from history and popular culture both represent and stereotype women. Figures like ghosts, monsters, and antiheroes serve as nuanced allegories of social and cultural complexities.

Her subjects span tragically iconic women from Okiku in Japanese horror to Medusa, Mae Nak, and persecuted witches, alongside modern icons like Lisa from Blackpink and Sailor Moon’s heroines. Kensaku critiques storytelling’s biases, transforming these figures into enduring symbols of empowerment and resistance.

‘คฤหาสน์จาน’ นิทรรศการเดี่ยวโดย ยุรี เกนสาคู ผลงานล่าสุดของ ยุรี เกนสาคู สำรวจถึงการต่อสู้และความเข้มแข็งของผู้หญิงผ่านตำนานวัฒนธรรม นิทานพื้นบ้าน และต้นแบบในสังคม ด้วยสไตล์อันสดใสให้ความรู้สึกถึงงานอนิเมะที่เชื้อเชิญผู้ชม เธอได้วิเคราะห์เรื่องราวจากประวัติศาสตร์และวัฒนธรรมป๊อปที่สะท้อนและเหมารวมบทบาทของผู้หญิง ตัวละครอย่างผี ปีศาจ และแอนตี้ฮีโร่ ถูกใช้เป็นอุปมาอันลึกซึ้งถึงความซับซ้อนทางสังคมและวัฒนธรรม

ผลงานของเธอครอบคลุมถึงผู้หญิงที่ชื่อเสียงเป็นที่รู้จักอย่างน่าเศร้าทั้งในประวัติศาสตร์ ตั้งแต่ โอคิคุในตำนานผีญี่ปุ่น เมดูซา แม่นาค และแม่มดที่ถูกกล่าวหาในอดีต ไปจนถึงไอคอนสมัยใหม่ เช่น ลิซ่า แบล็กพิงก์ และเหล่านักรบสาวใน เซเลอร์ มูน  ยุรีวิพากษ์วิจารณ์อคติในเรื่องเล่า เปลี่ยนตัวละครเหล่านี้ให้เป็นสัญลักษณ์ที่ทรงพลังของพลังหญิงและการไม่ยอมจำนน
